With Daryl Hall's fifth solo album coming this Spring (are we there yet?), I thought it might be nice to take a look back at some of the media attention he received back in 1986. News outlets were reporting that Hall & Oates had broken up but in actuality a decision was made to put H&O on hold so that both Daryl and John could pursue their own interests. John shifted into production and a number of other activities and Daryl set out to release his second solo effort cryptically titled "Three Hearts In The Happy Ending Machine".
Articles about Daryl once again began to pop up in everything from teen magazines to publications aimed at professional sound engineers. One such article that I came across was featured in RockLine Magazine's December 1986 issue. Entitled "Daryl Hall Does It All", this write-up could not be more foretelling. In the last twenty-plus years he has released two additional solo efforts, written songs for such artists as Celine Dion, continued to tour and write music with John Oates, battled Lyme Disease, become a "Family Man" AND most recently reared the brain child known as Live From Daryl's House. It appears that he is still doing it all and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
